The Gus³ Lab module is a robust and comprehensive tool designed for seed laboratories. Similar to a LIMS, its goal is to secure analyses and result entries, automate calculations and controls, and ensure regulatory compliance. As a true digital assistant, it frees laboratory technicians from repetitive tasks and allows them to focus on their core mission: seed quality.
A comprehensive business tool for laboratory technicians
From batch reception to final validation of analysis results, the Gus³ Lab module integrates all analysis processes into a single, interconnected and secure environment, designed to meet all the constraints of seed laboratories:
- manage a wide variety of batches (inputs, semi-finished products, finished products, carryovers, special batches in response to specific requirements, external samples, etc.).
- carry out a wide variety of analyses (standard, mention, yes/no, calculated, expressed in number of units or in percentage, comprising a single observation or the average of several observations, etc.), including in the context of successive tests, repetitions, or even retakes for second-line certification.
- ensure the reliability of analysis results.
- comply with current technical regulations, starting with standards ISTA et SEMAE.
- ensure the traceability of samples and sub-samples.
Native integration into the Gus³ suite
The Gus³ Lab module is based on the proven SemWare software suite:
- ERP iGus : setting of standards and species/variety characteristics, management of quality plans.
- procedural assistant myGus : guided entry of analysis results, management of laboratory procedures, traceability and identification by barcodes from self-generated labels.
- ready-to-use dashboard portal tiGus : automatic restitution of results, extractions and consolidated analyses.
This interoperability avoids double entries while guaranteeing immediate availability of data for all the operators concerned and automatic propagation of the validated analysis results to the batches and samples concerned.
Traceability and security of analyses
Systematic barcode labeling and ultra-fine sample lifecycle management guarantee complete traceability, from the creation of sampling plans to the final validation of the report.
All steps and integral parts of the process are documented, for total reliability.
- Identity of the laboratory technicians.
- Type, quantity and unit of samples.
- Quality plan to be followed for the main sample and its sub-samples.
- Sampling plan by product line family and management nature; it determines which sub-samples must be created from the main sample; the latter are identified using barcode labels printed as part of the procedure.
- Analysis families, displayed in the order required for completion.
- Analysis profiles; it is possible to create a specific profile for a product line or a contract giver, to indicate whether an analysis is mandatory in an analysis profile; and even to include a family of analyses in several quality plans by adding it only once in an analysis profile.
- Analyses to be entered, in contrast to calculated analyses whose results are displayed directly in the final report; indication of the mandatory nature of the analyses.
- Analysis conditions; it is possible to add or remove analysis conditions, to link or unlink an analysis condition to an analysis, to link an analysis condition to an analysis in a profile, and even to have different analysis conditions depending on the seed stage; it is also possible to specify characteristics on an analysis condition (for example that the sample must be put in the fridge), to indicate exceptions on the characteristics of an analysis condition (for example, that the sample must be put in the fridge from a certain date...), or not to apply the default analysis condition for a family of analyses and to select another compatible analysis condition.
- Results already saved for the selected analysis family; it is possible to check and/or modify results that have already been saved.
- Containers (germination boxes, etc.) and storage locations (including on a trolley); indication of the containers and locations available and the number of containers present on each trolley.
- Tests; it is possible to define a maximum/minimum number of tests; indication that a new test must be carried out in the event of uninterpretable results (for example, when the difference between the first and second humidity measurement exceeds 0,2%).
- Repetitions; it is possible to define a number of repetitions and a quantity per repetition, as well as the number and type of containers.
Key features
The Gus³ Lab module covers all the needs of a seed laboratory:
- Guided and controlled entry of analysis results: display of the analyses to be entered, entry control of mandatory analyses, completeness checks, identification of the analyses for which the entry has not been completed, with the possibility of completing the entry of missing results, etc.
- Fine management of tests and repetitions.
- Integrated and automated calculations: analysis values, averages (of the different results entered, of the calculated analyses, of the samples for testing, of the results of the analyses of each repetition, of the samples within the tests), totals (of the samples for tests, of the results counted, etc.), rounding rule according to ISTA standards (for example for germination capacity analyses)...
- Calculation formulas: linked to an analysis family or to an analysis; they can be simple (mathematical calculation such as addition, subtraction, etc.) or complex (PL/SQL block).
- Analysis compliance checks: non-conformities are explained and invalid results are neither generated nor propagated to sub-samples or batches.
- Consistency checks of analysis results.
- Scales for interpreting results.
- Automatic generation of reports, for final validation by laboratory technicians; the reports include the analysis results that have been entered and those that have been calculated by the application.
- Standards: technical regulations ISTA, SEMAE integrated as standard; however, it is possible to apply other standards (GEVES, SNES) and/or define specific settings if necessary.
- Management of containers (germination boxes, jars, trolleys, etc.) and their movements: automatic recording of the germination date, automatic suggestion of moving the trolley to a hot or cold room, with display of the list of available and occupied locations, etc.
- Management of sample locations by barcode reading, a particularly useful feature in the context of sample storage for SEMAE.
Tailor-made support
Each seed laboratory has its own protocols, our business team configures the Gus³ Lab module according to your needs, practices and constraints:
- characteristics of batches/varieties,
- analyses to be carried out,
- analysis conditions to be respected (methods used, temperature, humidity, density, one or more simultaneous containers, tests, etc.),
- rules for interpreting analysis results,
- etc.
